William Cobbett’s 250th Anniversary

Published on Mar 5, 2013

Politicians may think they get a rough time of it from their critics nowadays but in the early 1800s they were subject to withering criticism from political campaigners. One of them was William Cobbett, he was born in Farnham and spent some of his life in Botley. He campaigned against corruption and the sufferings of agricultural labourers in the industrial revolution. This Saturday is the 250th anniversary of his birth and Farnham is marking the event as Chris Robinson reports.
